Q. If I need a restoration service, where will the work be carried out?
A. In the UK, in our own workshops by a dedicated and experienced craftsman. And you are welcome to meet our model makers and visit to see the progress of your work.

Q. How do I order from Model Ships?
A. By phone,  email or over the internet. In all cases, you will need a debit  or credit card, or can choose to pay by bank transfers

Q. The Ordering Process:
A. The credit card number provided must match the billing addresses, this is a pre-requisite for all credit card companies for increased security measures.
All orders require a daytime telephone number and a delivery address. All deliveries to be signed for.
For security purposes, we reserve the right to request back-up documentation, such as a credit card copy, driving licence or other suitable means of identification. These can be sent by post, faxed or emailed.
Please remember we are more than happy to process your order on the phone if it helps. 

Q. Do your prices change?
A. As is the case with any business, we reserve the right to change our prices at any time. New prices  apply to new orders only. 

Q. What are your terms of Payment?
A. Stock Items - Full payment is required.
Non Stock Items - 50% chargeable on the total cost, outstanding 50% will be charged prior to delivery of order.

Q. Which types of Credit Cards are acceptable?
A. Master Card, Visa, AMEX, Maestro, Switch, Visa Delta, Visa Electron, Visa Purchasing, Solo and JCB. 
An order can be taken over the phone, online, by email or by post using the above credit cards.

Q. Is it safe to use a debit or credit card to pay on-line?: 
A. All online transactions are processed using a secure server with SSL technology.  One you order is processed, your credit card details are automatically purged.

Q. What is S.S.L?:
A. SSL stands for ‘Secure Socket Layers’ meaning all credit card details transferred from the Website are encrypted.

Q. How are the models delivered?
Our model ships are delivered by courier service.

Q. Packaging:
A. The packaging are custom built for each model boat to ensure safe delivery and ease of unpacking the model.

Q. Why are the prices excluding taxes (VAT), packing and delivery?
A. The system calculates these based on the delivery address.  For e.g, in the UK and Europe, we have to add vat, whilst in the US and other parts of the World, there is no vat, making the models 20% cheaper. However the delivery charges are higher.

Q. Do you custom build model ships?
A. A large share of our business is now about making ship models to order. We will send youa short questionnaire to complete and provide a quote usually within 24 to 48 hours.

Q. What info do you need in order to custom make a model?
A. We will send you a list of info that we need in order to make accurate models. This usually consists of specific drawings and as many pictures as possible.  We can make a model without drawings, but this is much harder and the model boat would be less accurate?

Q. Do you offer a research service?
A. Yes we can research the history of and availability of drawings etc in order to make a model.
