Esmeralda Model Ship in Display Case

The Model is displayed in an illuminated glass purpose bookcase. The wood is dark oak and was built by an expert cabinet maker .

The model maker was making another vessel and found there was a shortage of parts, causing him to contact the supplier.
 
He happened to mention that he had completed the Esmerelda and was informed that he was only the second person known to have done so. A representative was sent to UK to view and photograph the ship and not only were the missing pieces provided but he was awarded a kit of the Victory free of charge, which he subsequently completed .

The maker spent over 600 man hours on the model. The kit was very much embellished by the maker’s ingenuity the sails were meticulously sewn by hand (He had trained as a tailor with Austin Reed) He scoured UK to find the correct Calico material for the sales. He sawed up brass pipe with a Hacksaw to produce the literally hundred of portholes.
