History of Endeavour:

The Endeavor J Class yacht was a wood ship that was designed by Charles E. Nicholson. The Endeavour was built in 1933 for Sir Thomas Sopwith to be sailed in the America's Cup.  At Model-Ships.co.uk, we offer a wide selection of classic model yachts for sale, including the Endeavour J Class yacht.

Endeavour was considered the best yacht of the time for the J Class yachts. Endeavour raced for the cup for the first time in 1934 and nearly defeated Rainbow, the American defender. Subsequent to the America's Cup, Endeavour J Class yacht dominated the sailing scene in Britain. The ship passed through several private owners over the next five decades and gradually reached a state of decay. The ship hadn't sailed for many years when it was discovered by a yacht enthusiast and restored.

Endeavor was purchased by a private owner in 1984 and a five year rebuilding process commenced. The ship has cruised extensively by her various owners in regattas around the world. After restoration by Elizabeth Meyer, the ship was sold to Dennis Kozlowski in 2000, then the CEO of Tyco. After his conviction, Endeavour was sold to a Hawaiian business man and ship enthusiast who is restoring the ship once again.

The Endeavour has lived in the imagination of yachting enthusiasts around the world. Endeavor J Class yacht remains important as a historical vessel and among collectors of historic yachts of this time period.
